You Go Girl!

Today the Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 41st Annual CMA awards, and who is among the contenders for Female Vocalist of the Year? Yep, you guessed it...REBA! Still giving those young girls a run for their money after all of these years. Anyone who knows me knows these roots run deep and while new artists come and go, I'm a lifelong Reba fan. You go girl!

The Morning Routine

Do you know that moment when you wake up in the morning and your child is still sleeping and you just want to lie there and savor the quiet...soak it in for as long as you can, smell the coffee, listen to the birds chirp, watch the sun come up? In my house this morning, that moment was closely followed by my husband saying, "Did you hear that? She's awake." "Ahh, man! Seriously?" Of course this is also the moment he's about to dash out the door for work, and my routine is about to begin. The routine that is more like a sprint actually...get the little one up, dressed, fed...then it's time to hang out with mom as I get ready! Of course my daughter has discovered the magic of the bathroom cabinet...who knew that shaking up the tampon box and dispensing them all over the floor could be that much fun day after day!?! I shower (playing peek a boo the whole time behind the curtain), dress, put on my makeup, dry my hair (she's fascinated with this crazy device!) and then it's time to head downstairs! We're making good progress! Let's put on sunscreen (we are fair skinned redheads afterall) gather up the stuff for daycare, feed the dog...and we're OUT the door! Yeah, we made it! Go, go, go!!

Single in the City?

Well it's a good thing I'm approaching my wedding anniversary and not looking for a date to the wedding instead. Forbes released its listing of best cities for single people and Portland ranks 29 out of 40...coming in even behind St. Louis. That is sad! There's nothing like thinking you're still young and hip and then realizing you live in the suburbs in a city with moderate job growth and a high cost of living! Oh well, at least we have a great culture and nightlife!
