We smashed Houston, we smoked Michigan (much to everyone's surprise) and we crushed Fresno State. Conference play is now upon us. Yesterday five teams ranked ahead of Oregon lost. We were ranked #19...could a top 10 ranking be in the cards? Go DUCKS!!
Speaking of Cards, what has happened to our beloved St. Louis Cardinals? We were within 1 game, but then proceeded to hit a desperate slide which has taken us to our current place of being six games back. Is another miracle possible or were the trials and tribulations of this season too much to overcome?

For the Love of Hosting
What? No Ellen in 2008?! Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that Jon Stewart will once again host the Oscars, after what could be called mixed reviews in 2006. I was so hoping Ellen Degeneres would return. I must admit, I have a thing for Ellen...I mean not a "thing thing", but kind of a "you know...thing." She's smart, hilarious and engaging...and I'll say it, I think she's an attractive woman as well. I'm confident enough in my own sexuality to admit that I have some kind of girl crush on Ellen. There I said it.
So yes, I will miss Ellen at the Oscar party next year. Once again we will only be graced with boring black and white tuxes, there will be no trademark Ellen dancing and no flirting with Jack and Leo and George....sigh. Good luck Jon -- I hope you're funny...I mean really...please be funny. Prove me wrong and who knows...maybe I'll end up with a crush on you too.

Kenny Strikes Again
Kenny's new CD, "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates" came out today. Tell me your favorite cut off the new album. My vote's for Got A Little Crazy.
Return to Reality
My husband and I and our little girl were officially checked out, on vacation all of last week through yesterday evening. We had friends getting married at Lake Tahoe on Sunday night so we took the opportunity to head down a little early and make a vacation out of it. This was our first real vacation since Miss B was born over a year ago. It was a great time. We found ourselves to be more active there than we ever are on weekends at home! Swimming, walking, strolling through Tahoe City, chillin' at the beach at Sand Harbor, sightseeing at Emerald Bay and visiting with friends was pretty much how we spent our six days. Now we're home, back to work and dreaming of days gone by...

You Go Girl!
Today the Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 41st Annual CMA awards, and who is among the contenders for Female Vocalist of the Year? Yep, you guessed it...REBA! Still giving those young girls a run for their money after all of these years. Anyone who knows me knows these roots run deep and while new artists come and go, I'm a lifelong Reba fan. You go girl!
The Morning Routine
Do you know that moment when you wake up in the morning and your child is still sleeping and you just want to lie there and savor the quiet...soak it in for as long as you can, smell the coffee, listen to the birds chirp, watch the sun come up? In my house this morning, that moment was closely followed by my husband saying, "Did you hear that? She's awake." "Ahh, man! Seriously?" Of course this is also the moment he's about to dash out the door for work, and my routine is about to begin. The routine that is more like a sprint actually...get the little one up, dressed, fed...then it's time to hang out with mom as I get ready! Of course my daughter has discovered the magic of the bathroom cabinet...who knew that shaking up the tampon box and dispensing them all over the floor could be that much fun day after day!?! I shower (playing peek a boo the whole time behind the curtain), dress, put on my makeup, dry my hair (she's fascinated with this crazy device!) and then it's time to head downstairs! We're making good progress! Let's put on sunscreen (we are fair skinned redheads afterall) gather up the stuff for daycare, feed the dog...and we're OUT the door! Yeah, we made it! Go, go, go!!

Single in the City?
Well it's a good thing I'm approaching my wedding anniversary and not looking for a date to the wedding instead. Forbes released its listing of best cities for single people and Portland ranks 29 out of 40...coming in even behind St. Louis. That is sad! There's nothing like thinking you're still young and hip and then realizing you live in the suburbs in a city with moderate job growth and a high cost of living! Oh well, at least we have a great culture and nightlife!
